Shadoe Settle, MAMFT

ASSOCIATE-LICENSED THERAPIST

To me, therapy isn’t about being fixed after being broken. It’s about finding the freedom to live a life as truly & authentically YOU as possible.

We all have our own stories that deserve to be heard. We all deserve to be known. My intention as a therapist is to be a partner & an advocate on the journey to internal contentment. Honestly, you're the one doing the hard work. I'm here to partner with you along the way. My goal is to be a safe space for you to rest & engage on whatever level you're comfortable with.

Sometimes, this work takes us places we've avoided for a long time, but we have to go there to find genuine healing. I'm here to make sure that while you're working through the discomfort, you're not alone.

You have someone in your corner – not trying to fix you, but to simply be as curious about you as you are. Let's figure that out together, shall we?

TRAINING & EDUCATION

As an MAMFT, I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist here at Whole Life Counseling & Consulting. This means that I’ve completed a graduate program with a systemic therapeutic lens. Through this graduate program, I’ve accumulated over 600 hours of clinical practice and spent hundreds of hours researching, studying, and training the most recent and effective therapy models with some of the best therapists in the area.
I’ve also spent hundreds of hours of academic research as well as doing the work in therapy myself. Associate Therapists still practice under supervision, which means I have a great team of experienced, licensed supervisors providing regular supervision & guidance to ensure you get the best possible care available.

While I work in multiple modalities, I do tend to focus most on evidence-based experiential modalities such as Internal Family Systems Theory (IFS) or Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I am currently working towards certification in the specialties of Internal Family Systems, Somatic IFS, and EMDR. I am also certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
